This section is designed for doctors in training who are pursuing a career in surgery. This includes those who are in their Foundation years, as well as those who are engaged in a training programme, either at core level, or at specialty level.

We realise that you will have very different needs at each stage of your training, and have split the information on this site accordingly. Use the links on the left to select the appropriate training level for more information.

Recruitment to Surgical Training - 2010


If you are planning to apply to core or specialty training in surgery in 2010, look out advertisements have been out since early December. The closing date for applications to round one is likely to be mid December 2009, with interviews taking place from February 2010.

Advertisements for Specialty training at level ST3 up will be available from 15th February 2010.  Interviews for these posts will commence on 6th April 2010. The JCST has published guidance on achieving and demonstrating competencies for these posts.

Additional recruitment rounds will commence in spring 2010.
