Sports Surgery Q&A session

Wednesday 9 May, 6.30-9pm

At a time when sport is at the forefront of everyone's mind we would like to offer you the opportunity to learn more about the fields of sports medicine and surgery as well as non-invasive techniques for correcting common sporting injuries.

A broad panel of experts whose skills span the sporting profession will discuss their work and answer your questions. This panel will include:

Mr Panos Thomas

Consultant Orthopaedic Sports and Knee Surgeon practising at the Whittington Hospital and appointed National Tutor in Orthopaedic Sports Surgery by the Royal College of Surgeons.

Gary Anderson

Performance director of British Bobsleigh. Previous roles include managing Britain's curling teams at the Vancouver Olympics Games and performance manager at British Judo.

Dr AmitMor

Co-founder and Medical Director of AposTherapy.

Nils Jackson

Sports Physiotherapist for the American School in London, caring for athletes in U18-level sports.  Nils has previous experience with the Medical Team for US Championship Taekwondo, Western Rodeo and NATO.

During the evening you will have the opportunity to use AposTherapy's gait analysis system - a method used to assess the way we walk or run and to highlight biomechanical abnormalities.

This practical demonstration will be followed by a Q&A session with the panel and will finish with an opportunity to view the current exhibition Anatomy of an Athlete: Elite sport, surgery and medical art.

This event is free but places are limited and will be allotted on a 'first come, first served' basis.

Please email museums@rcseng.ac.uk or call 020 7869 6560 to reserve your place.
