  • December 2012                                                                                            Laurie Baxter; ENT Surgeon is announced as the new Chair of Women in Surgery.
  • October 2012:

    Women in Surgery and Exeter university have secured a grant from the ERSC to continue to support the 'Perceptions of Fit' research more information on this project can be found here

    New RCS website launched

    RCS are proud to welcome Mrs Susan Hill to the RCS Council. Women now make up 19% of RCS Council.

  • September 2011:
    The deadline for the WINS conference poster competition has been extended by one week. Visit the conference pages for more information.
  • August 2011:
    Gabriel Weston, who spoke at a previous WinS conference, is currently writing for the Guardian's "Mapping the Body" series on anatomy - it's a really interesting series!
  • July 2011:
    Booking is now open for the next WinS conference, which promises to be an excellent event. Visit our conference pages for details and bookings.
  • June 2011:
    Save the date! the 2011 WinS conference - a celebration of a century of women in surgery will be held on 4th and 5th November. 
  • May 2011:
    Congratulations to Patricia Numann who has been named President Elect of the American College of Surgeons. Patricia also founded the American Association of Women Surgeons back in 1981.
  • April  2011:
    Congratulations to Scarlett Mcnally, who has just been elected onto the College Council
  • April  2011:
    A WinS Day for medical students at the Manchester Royal Infirmary (organised by Scalpel - The University of Manchester Surgical Society) is being held on 14th May
  • April 2011:
    The BMJ has published an interesting article asking whether there are too many female medical students.
